Vision Statements

Q) What will actually come from this document?

A) The items contained in the Vision Document are essential to the continued health and vibrancy of Manchester UMC in the future, and will indeed be acted upon by current and proposed ministry teams.  A 20’s/30’s Task Force and a Church Transformation Task Force are already in formation, and Ministry Council is preparing to communicate to existing ministry teams about how items contained within the Vision Document affect and shape the direction of their ministries.  We are entering into an exciting time!

Q) If we focus on 20's/30's, what will happen to ministries with other age groups?

A)  At Manchester UMC, our ministries encompass all  ages and stages of life.  However, right now our ministries for this age group pale in comparison to other demographics.  For Manchester UMC and for the young adults themselves, it is essential that young adults (those in their twenties and thirties) find Manchester UMC to be a place where they can grow in faith, in relationship with one another, and serve those around them.  We look forward to strengthening and growing all of our ministries while at the same time focusing on the 20’s/30’s demographic.

Q) What will happen to the Community Christian Life Center (CCLC) project?

A)  Several months ago the Ministry Council authorized a task force to address the question of where we were with the Community Christian Life Center (CCLC) project. As the task force met, it became obvious that there were deeper questions that first needed to be answered: Who are we as a church? What do we believe? What is our mission and, accordingly, what are the most important things we should be doing? By answering such questions, we’d be better able to gain a clear sense as to how to prioritize all our resources—people, finances, capital.  The Vision Document addresses these questions. It also proposes action over the next several months that will ultimately enable a comprehensive, 3-5 year ministry plan. This plan will help us assess such projects as the CCLC in the light of our broader mission.

Q) What are the next steps?

A)  See the document “Here to There” for a timeline of where we go from here.
