Hangin out + 3 Dolla Dinners
Sundays, 6-7 p.m. Here are some things you can do with $3: 1. Wash a load of clothes at the laundromat 2. Buy 3 squeegees from the Dollar Store 3. Sit on a massage chair at the mall for 5 minutes 4. Eat dinner and hang out with your friends all evening at Manchester Youth Hmmmmmm… Unless you have a thing for cleaning windows, you'll probably pick the last one, right? For just $3 you can chow down and hang out with your friends, every Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. Sometimes the youth praise band True North shows us how to rock, other nights we play big group games or put on funny skits, and let's not forget the video games. Oh yes, there are video games. You never know what'll happen, so don't miss it! 1st Sunday of the month: Pizza 2nd Sunday of the month: Subs 3rd Sunday of the month: Tacos 4th Sunday of the month: Chicken 5th Sunday of the month: Appetizers
Small Groups
Sundays, 7-8 p.m. After pigging out for $3, we break into smaller groups at 7 p.m. We talk about whatever topics were introduced during the large group time (through skits, games, movies, etc.), throw in a few Bible passages, and tie it all together to see what it means to our real lives. The groups are usually set up by grade level. Check back soon for the schedule of topics.
Sixth Grade ONLY (SGO)
Wednesdays 4:30-5:30 Are you in 4th grade? Sorry, the children's department has what you need. 10th? The senior high kids can help you. Kindergarten? Uh, shouldn't you be watching cartoons or something? 6th grade, now we're talking. SGO is when just the sixth graders get together, hang out, get to know other sixth graders @ MUMC and have fun.
Media Club
Wednesdays, 6-7:30 p.m. Do you like taking pictures? Making videos? Do you want to photoshop a crocodile head onto your math teacher's body? The Media Club can help. We go out, take pictures of things, learn about the hows and whys of photography and then come back and process them either in our very own dark room or digitally with Photoshop. We also have some high tech video cameras and like shooting movies. We're a fun, creative and artistic bunch, and we'd love for you to join us. We meet Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Worship
Sundays, 9:30 and 10:50 a.m. We're takin over the balcony. You have to promise not to make fun of people's bald spots down below, though.
True North: Keepin things RAWK
Rehearsals Sundays, 4-5 p.m. Our own personal rock band, featuring both senior high and middle school youth. We headline sold-out shows at UMB Bank Pavilion and the Savvis Center…just kidding. Maybe someday, though, we are pretty good. We play in worship every few weeks, at special youth events, during Sunday evening hang out sometimes, and put on a couple other shows during the year. We're always looking for instrumentalists and vocalists. Check back soon for more stuff, like photos, videos and maybe some MP3s.
Cantate: Keepin things…choir?
Sundays, 5-6 p.m. If you're more of a choir singer than a rock guitarist, Cantate might be for you. (It's an Italian word, pronounced "kahn-TAH-tay.") The youth choir is open to all the youth of the church, grades 6 through 12. No audition or choral experience is necessary, only a love of music. We sing every first and third Sunday in worship at the 8 a.m. service and at additional services throughout the year and in musical mission throughout the community, including an awesome summer choir tour. MUMC's organist/music ace John Cargile heads it up, so get in touch with him if you're interested.
Confirmation
Confirmation 2010 at MUMC is for all 7th and unconfirmed 8th graders. We will meet every Sunday night beginning after the first of the year. The past Class of 2009 had 59 youth who confirmed their faith and joined our church on May 9, 2009! The collection from this year's Confirmation service went to the Humane Society of Missouri. Good job, Confirmands! A donation was made in your honor of $873.83.
The Journey Continues
The Journey Continues is an amazing group of youth who were confirmed during our last session. These kids have chosen to meet and study God's word and plan for their lives every week – to continue their journey.
