Volunteer Appreciation Day 2024 | Sun, May 19 | 10 – 11a
On Pentecost Sunday, May 19, all of Manchester UMC's current and previous volunteers will be recognized for a very special reception. Volunteers will also be recognized during each worship service. Click on the graphic to learn more about how you can make our volunteers feel special!

Red Cross Blood Drive | Sat, May 18 | 7a – 3p
The Red Cross is greatly in need of blood donations, so sign up to serve or to donate! Donations will be collected in Fellowship Hall.
Habitat for Humanity Work Day | Sat, June 8
Habitat for Humanity is in need of 10 volunteers from Manchester UMC to help with construction of houses. Volunteers age 16 and older and welcome.
Methodists at the Ballpark | June 23
The St. Louis Cardinals season has begun! Bring the family and/or friends for a fun time at Busch Stadium as the Cardinals play the San Francisco Giants on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 1:15 p.m.

Try out a Sermon Reflection Study group. These groups meet online. New participants are always welcome to join anytime. No homework and great conversations.
Beginning Drawing | Sats, June 1 - Aug. 3 | 4p
Drawing can bring so much joy and relaxation. We will work on the structure of two aspects of drawing shape (the correct outline and structure of a thing) and form (the shadow and fullness of a thing). It is typical to do well as one thing much more than the other, so the class will be about balancing those two aspects.
The Gift of Empathy | Weds, June 5-July 10 | 6:30p
We’ve all likely had thoughts of how the world could be a better place with greater empathy. By attending "The Gift of Empathy" book discussion classes you’ll learn how to help bring about greater empathy into daily interactions with others.
How to Know A Person | Weds, June 5-July 31 | 5-6:30p
In this 8 week series, we will discuss skills associated with truly understanding and knowing others. Using David Brooks’ “How to Know a Person” as a guide, participants will discuss important ways life is enriched when one sees deeply and is deeply seen.

Bike Rehab Work Weekend | 2nd Saturdays | 8a-Noon
The Bike House is open to volunteers. Some of the rehabbing tasks include: replacing tires, tubes, grips, brake pads, cables, cable housing, reflectors, seats, pedals, and kick stands. Each bike is cleaned and polished to enhance its appearance and prepare it for extended service to a joyful recipient. No experience needed! Tools and supplies are provided!

Bridge Bread is now offering Gooey Butter and Sugar Cookies. Stop by the Bridge Bread table and stock up! They are available after worship on Saturday or Sunday!
Connections & Other Information
Community Dinners | Wednesdays | 5:30-6:30p
Starting September 11, multiple generations will gather from 5:30 to 6:30p for an affordable community dinner in Fellowship Hall at Manchester UMC. Open to the public, these dinners are an opportunity to enjoy delicious food, uplifting entertainment, friendly people, and optional programs afterwards. Even better, you won’t have to cook or clean up!
Lydia Circle | 1st Thursday of month | 9:30a
Starting Thursday, Sept. 5, join this group to learn more about Manchester UMC and all of the various ministries, as well as staff. Snacks, social time and mission information will be provided. Newcomers always welcome!
Serve with Community Dinners
Sign up in August and choose from different roles/positions based on your interest and availability. Support and training are provided. Your meal is FREE on the weeks you volunteer!

A printing of the second edition of the sold-out book The Church on the Hill is in consideration by the Historical Ministry. We are currently gauging interest in ordering.
