SUMMARY:Mental Health Empowerment
DESCRIPTION:Dates:  Wednesday, September 30\nTime:  6:30 p.m.\nLocation:  Sanctuary | Manchester UMC\nSocieties around the world are confronting an unprecedented mental health crisis that affects individuals across every demographic. Regardless of age, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, no one is immune to the challenges associated with mental health.\nThis crisis presents not only a profound challenge but also a unique opportunity to rethink how we, as a society, respond. By fostering greater understanding, strengthening our capacity for compassion, and equipping individuals with the skills to care for and support one another, we can build a more effective and humane approach to promoting mental well-being and addressing the growing mental health needs of our communities.\nKey to bringing about a more positive state of mental health in our society is to engage churches in addressing these challenges. This step comes down to asking two basic questions:\n\nHow can we tell others in our congregation, including pastors and lay leaders, about the issue of mental health, its impact on so many of us, and the steps that we can take to employ the caring skills of our faith community?\nWhat steps can our church take, right now, to get started?\n\nOn Wednesday, September 30, at 6:30 p.m., Dr. Kenneth C. Haugk, founder of Stephen Ministries, will be at Manchester UMC to share with those in attendance the background on the issues of the mental health crisis and, more importantly, what congregations can do to help combat the mental health crisis.\n\nDr. Kenneth C.
