Alpha Class will be offering a six-week course lead by LifeWise StL. This class called Traveling Reflection Immersion Program (TRIP) is an interactive program designed to help participants gain a greater understanding of issues facing those who live in poverty and on the margins. It is geared towards experiences that facilitate dialogue and understanding about poverty, food insecurity, racism and educational disparities to name a few. Come participate with the Alpha Class in this important study on the following:
- October 20 Session 1: Making Ends Meet (Simulation)- Making choices when you have limited income
- October 27 Session 2: Food for Thought – Food Insecurity
- November 3 Session 3: Roll of the Dice, Part 1 The interdependence between income and housing
- November 10 Session 4: Roll of the Dice, Part 2 Inter-dynamics of group-based disadvantages
- November 17 Session 5: Taking Action, Part. 1: Action Star – Discussion of Actions we can take
- November 24 Session 6: Taking Action, Part. 2: Social Change Wheel- Discussion of new ways to address needs
Attendance for all six sessions is required.
Registration is also required and limited to the first 20. You will receive a separate email either letting you know you are one of the 20 people to participate in this class OR you are on the waiting list. If there are enough people on the waiting list, then an additional class will be made available in the future and those on the waiting list will be notified.
The hope is to offer this experience to other members/groups in the future.
