Matthew tells us that Jesus was “famished” after his time in the wilderness. Pain is a hunger that looks not for nourishment, but for numbing. Hunger for repair and restoration motivates us, and living together in chosen family means asking for what we need, with complete and utter honesty. And, offering what we can in the same spirit.
