Susanne Mertens

Leadership Board Member: 2020-2022.

After moving back to St. Louis from California, Susanne and her three children joined Manchester UMC in 1994. In her professional careers, Susanne was an elementary educator, Paralegal in Trusts and Estates, and a Trust Officer. Some of the most rewarding years were being a stay-at-home mom when the children were small, and now, as a retired person, with time to participate in many interests.

Susanne has served on Staff Parish Relations and has been active with Vesper Handbell Choir, the Sunday Nursery, Book Group, Disciple Bible Study, and Literacy.  On Thursday mornings she is a bike mechanic at Bike Rehab. Besides pedaling across the states of Missouri and Illinois with MO-Hab Riders numerous times, Susanne has been the training ride coordinator and taken care of communications for the bicycle group.

Susanne is an active member of the St. Louis Symphony Volunteer Association and especially enjoys giving tours of Powell Hall.

Susanne shares that being part of the large community of Manchester UMC is spiritually and emotionally fulfilling. She adds that the commonality of faith is a binding element in the many friendships developed.
