2021 Vacation Bible School
FOCUS – Take a Closer Look
Get ready for a summer full of FUN, FELLOWSHIP, and FRIENDSHIPS! Kids age 4 by August 1, 2021 (and potty-trained) through 5th Grade (Fall 2021) will dive deeper into their faith by putting the FOCUS on God and God’s amazing plan for us. Your preschoolers through preteens will have a blast as they discover how to trust in what they CAN’T see because of what they CAN see. Through Bible stories, music, games, science, crafts, and our annual service project, students will explore four different ways they can FOCUS on God: HEAR, TALK, PRAY, and LIVE.
Please note: Pending St. Louis County and CDC guidelines, as well as VBS adult volunteer availability, our in-person VBS option is subject to cancellation as we work to keep everyone healthy and safe. We will stay in contact with all registrants about any upcoming changes and virtual VBS will continue to be available. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

VBS Kick-Off – July 11, 4:00 p.m.
In-person and virtual participants plus their families are welcome to join together for our VBS kick-off. Starting at 4 pm families are invited to pick-up their VBS packets and join us as we celebrate the start of a GREAT week. During our time together (45 minutes – 1 hour), we will enjoy music, a welcome, and prayer time.
We have a special opportunity for our friends who turn 3 by August 1, 2021, are potty-trained, AND whose parent(s) volunteer during the entire week of VBS (need to be Safe Gatherings certified). They will get to experience our FOCUS VBS by diving deeper in their faith through programming specifically designed for their age level. You can register your child for Mini-VBS when you complete the Adult Volunteer Registration form online.
Please note: Nursery care will not be available for this year’s Vacation Bible School. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to navigate programming during this pandemic.
How Can I Help?
We hope you will join us as we guide our preschoolers through preteens on a journey to discover how to trust in what they CAN’T see because of what they CAN see by putting the FOCUS on God. The goal of Manchester UMC’s Vacation Bible School is to engage new and current families by connecting children and volunteers with each other, the community, and God. By joining our VBS volunteer team, you have the opportunity to not only help our children grow in their relationship with God, but to continue strengthening your own spiritual journey.
There are three ways to lead our “Focus Finders” (kids) during in-person VBS:
Adult Station Leader
Adult Station Leader will lead station activities such as: crafts, music, and games. You will work with a team to create the safest and best possible learning experience for our students that help encourage them along their faith journeys.
Adult Group Leader
Adult Group Leader will be facilitating travel to different activities throughout the day as well as leading small group time. All of the small group lessons, crafts, music, and games have already been planned. Our leadership team promises you will be prepared for the journey!
Youth Volunteer are a vital part of helping our station leader and group leader volunteers (crafts, music, games, and small group). In addition, we will be utilizing youth volunteer as bathroom and carpool buddies. activities and individual groups. We are also looking to have youth help as bathroom and/or carpool buddies.
Please prayerfully consider accepting one of these roles for our summer VBS program. We really do need you! You will be helping to support Christian learning for our young members and receive bountiful blessings in return. All in-person volunteers will be required to wear a mask and follow physical distancing guidelines.
All adults serving with children at VBS need to be Safe Gatherings certified. If you have questions about this process or serving at our 2021 FOCUS VBS, please visit our website or contact Chessey Brenton, Director of Children and Family Ministries.
