Soul Gravitas Retreat
Dates: Saturday, September 26
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Location: Room 223 | Manchester UMC
Leader: Rev. Brenda Becker
Description: The Soul Gravitas retreat is for “Baby Boomers” or those in the 3rd third of their lives. No one is born with “gravitas.” Typically, people with gravitas are older, but it really has less to do with age than with response to the way life unfolds. They have settled into themselves, and into the people God has given them to love, without turning toward cynicism. Soul gravitas comes as a result of wholesome responses to hurts, blessings, faith, boredom, achievement, and obligations, all of which are received into a life with gratitude.
During our time together, we will consider the paradox of aging: that even as physical health can get worse, wisdom, mental well-being, happiness, and contentment often improve. There are core components to flourishing at this stage of life as well as effective ways to build a meaningful legacy. We will also identify possibilities for using your decades of life experience for purposeful service, mentoring, community advocacy, caring for self as well as for others, and simply discovering the Holy in the landscape of life.
If you are a Baby Boomer ready to talk about flourishing at this time of life plus where and how your legacy may grow beyond yourself, come join us for a morning of conversation, inspiration, and legacy building.
