St. Louis to Cooperstown Seminar

Day: Sunday, March 1
Time: 3:30-5 p.m.
Location: Fellowship Hall | Manchester UMC
Leader: John Klos

We all know St. Louis is the best baseball town in America, as said by Bob Costas and many others. Sure, only the Yankees have won more World Series Championships than the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Redbirds have won the most National League Pennants, but to the great fans you need to know and understand the history of our town.

There are only 13 players highlighted on the outfield wall of Busch Stadium. Who are these other 42 men? And what about the 15 men in Cooperstown tied to the St. Louis Browns, or the six who played for the Negro League Giants and Stars from St. Louis and are inducted in the Hall of Fame as well? And there are a few who grew up in St. Louis and made it to the Hall of Fame but never played for a St. Louis team. That is the story of the book From St. Louis to Cooperstown | Legends Born and Made in the Gateway City, by Ed Wheatley, that we will discuss and relive the memories of these great players.
