Ash & Dash

 Manchester United Methodist Church is offering a drive-thru Ash Wednesday experience on Wed, March 5, 2025 in West St. Louis County.

During this community event, clergy will be on had to offer ashes, pray with vehicle occupants and offer a free cross keepsake.  This event is open to the public and participants do not need to belong to a church.

Ash Wednesday Background:
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, leading up to Holy Week and Easter.  In the Christian tradition, Lent is a a time of repentance, fasting, and preparation for Easter, where believers celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Drivers should look for the signs.  Last year, more than 500 people took advantage of this opportunity.

We’ll explore scripture and discover ways to deepen your relationship with God during this season of introspection.

Whether you only want to dip your toe on the water or jump all in, there are lots of opportunities to learn, share and meet new people.

All are welcome, regardless of experience – come as you are and embark on this Lenten journey together.

“A Dusty Lent” will explore the implications of dying well from a Christian perspective. We will address various topics, including the nature of grief, the role of ministry during end-of-life care, funeral planning, estate planning, and the concept of leaving a lasting legacy. Additionally, we will delve into the theological understanding of what occurs after death.

The pastors will be referencing the following books; however, they are not required readings for this class.

  • Dessert First: Preparing for Death while Savoring Life by J. Dana Trent
  • Everything Happens for a Reason: And Other Lies I’ve Loved by Kate Bowler

Easter Eggstravaganza

Who: Kids 5th grade and younger and their families

Hop on over to the Easter Eggstravaganza for a morning full of exciting adventures! Start off with the Easter Egg Hunt, where you’ll search high and low for colorful eggs filled with candy, treats, and fun surprises!

After the hunt, unleash your creativity at the Crafts Station, where you can make your own Easter decorations or design the perfect egg to take home.

Get ready to be amazed by our Balloon Artists, who will twist and turn colorful balloons into awesome shapes and animals just for you. And don’t forget to visit the Petting Zoo, where you can get up close with cute bunnies and other friendly animals.

With surprises around every corner, this is one Easter event you won’t want to miss! Bring your family and friends for a morning of laughter, crafts, and fun!

Cost is $5 per kid.

Bandtogether

Once again, Manchester UMC welcomes St. Louis’ own LGBT+ concert band for a thrilling night of music. For nearly 27 years, this 100-member ensemble has performed for appreciative audiences across the St. Louis region. This event is an encore performance of their anniversary concert!

BandTogether is a volunteer music organization in the greater St. Louis area, open to performers of all abilities, providing performance opportunities to members of the LGBT+ community in a safe and relaxed setting.

Requiem – Heather Sorenson 

Composed in memory of lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic, this beautiful work provides a source of healing, hope and comfort to all. Following their recent performances in London, England and Dublin, Ireland, the Chancel Choir will be joined by members of the St. Louis choral community for this concert.
