Prayer Shawl Ministry

Caring

Need a prayer shawl?

Since the Prayer Shawl Ministry began 14 years ago, over 2500 people have received prayer shawls and many others have received hats, scarves, and baby blankets –  all made by approximately 100 dedicated women at Manchester UMC.

If you know someone who is in need of a prayer shawl, please drop by or call the church office (636.394.7506) to request a prayer shawl. Prayer Shawls are available free of charge for anyone who needs extra love during difficult times, whether or not they are members of Manchester UMC.

Volunteer

The ministry continually makes prayer shawls but more volunteers are needed. Yarn kits are available free in the Volunteer Workroom across from the church office. The group meets the third Wednesday of each month in the Fireside Room where they teach knitting and crocheting as well as work on projects, tag shawls, and bless all handiwork before it is packaged and distributed.

Please register if you are able to volunteer:

If questions, please email the Prayer Shawl ministry leaders, June Van Klaveren or Penny Klebe.

Pastor's Note

Have you ever felt like this?

Andy Blacksher, Executive Pastor Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, Zebedee’s sons, and two other disciples were together.  Simon Peter told them, “I’m going fishing.” They said, “We’ll go with you.” They set out in a boat, but throughout the night they caught nothing.
