What are the benefits of English As a Second Language Classes?

Benefits of classes include:

  • Learning English in friendly adult classes where you can work on conversations
  • Pronunciation
  • Grammar

  • American customs

In fiscal year 2016, the Parkway Area Program served almost 1700 adult students, over half of whom were ESL adults. We offer classes in the following school districts: Parkway, Rockwood, Pattonville, Clayton, Ladue, Brentwood, Hazelwood and Maplewood-Richmond Heights. Students do not have to be residents of any of these districts in order to enroll in our classes.

Parkway was designated as a STAR Program from the Continuous Quality Improvement review conducted by the Missouri Adult Education and Literacy Section of Department of Elementary and Secondary Education during the fiscal year 2011. We are funded with federal and state monies. The Missouri State Board of Education is responsible for administering our program in cooperation with the local school districts we serve.
