Care Ambassador Ministry

Date:  Mondays, August 10 – 31, 2026
Time:  6:30-8:00 p.m.
Location:
Room 223 | Manchester UMC
Leader:  Rev. Dr. Mary Beth Hartenstein, Pastor of Justice and Compassion

Congregational care happens best in community, the people of the church caring for one another. The ministry of care depends on people helping one another. It is a ministry of presence, of showing up with and for people, and to simply be with them, while empowering the congregation to care for one another, utilizing their skills and talents.

Therefore, Manchester UMC is launching a Care Ambassador Ministry. To foster a culture of ongoing care for individuals and families, especially those who might feel disconnected from the church due to illness or circumstances that do not allow them to be in worship and participate in other events at Manchester UMC.

Beginning on Monday, August 10, and continuing through Monday, August 31, classes will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. that will offer information and training on reflective listening, empathy, and other relevant topics that ambassadors will need in order to offer support and care for their care receivers. Details on how to sign up will be coming soon.

Duties of an ambassador will include regular check-ins with their care receiver and attending quarterly meetings to support one another in their roles, to have continuing educational opportunities, and to enjoy fellowship. Care Ambassadors will be supervised by the Pastor of Justice and Compassion and Ministry Leader(s).

If you are interested in learning more about the Care Ambassador Ministry, please email Rev. Dr. Mary Beth Hartenstein or call 636-200-4708.
