For some school-age children who receive reduced/free lunches at school, the weekends can be a time of hungry bellies and food insecurity. To help students get through the weekends with the food they need, Manchester UMC is partnering with the Parkway and St. Louis School Districts to provide students with backpacks filled with non-perishable food items every Friday.
New Weekly Volunteer Positions:
Food counting and preparation will take place on Wednesdays.
- On Wednesdays, there are four volunteer opportunities from 4:00-5:30p. Volunteers will count bags, setup, pack and clean-up.
- Each Thursday morning, one volunteer is needed to deliver Food 4 Kids bags each to Peabody and one volunteer is needed to deliver to Carman Trails Elementary School and Parkway South High School before noon. Delivery days/times may be adjusted when there are half-days on Thursdays or Fridays, or when school is not in session on Fridays.
All volunteers must register in advance; walk-in participation is not permitted. Volunteers must complete a Consent Form prior to volunteering.
Sign-up dates are available on Sign Up Genius. We appreciate the dedication of our volunteer team and welcome new participants. So that more individuals and new volunteers have an opportunity to participant in this mission, we are that you sign up for no more than one packing shift or two driving shifts per month.
