Description:   This group takes the summer off and will return in the Fall of 2025.

Lydia Circle is a group of women who meet to celebrate their desire to serve Christ by caring for others, social justice, prayers, fellowship, Bible study, health and fitness and enhancing our spirituality through a monthly program addressing these areas.

Lydia Circle is open to all women with an occasional meeting which might interest men as well. Newcomers are always welcome!

Please join the Lydia Circle on these dates:

  • September 4 – We welcome all women to our kickoff meeting. The program will give you a time to get to know new people and celebrate friends you think you know. We will share the program schedule for the year and enjoy snacks and devotion together. So, join this group of women who care about this church and its growth.
  • October 2 – We Ate It First! St Louis has made major contributions to the food culture of the United States, both in terms of dishes invented here and served nationwide, and dishes unique to the city. The speaker will be John Cline from the Saint Louis County Library.
  • November 6 – Oh no! My Brain Has Wrinkles Too? Discover how our brains change from womb to tomb, and how that information can change our brains and our relationships. Judy Smith, one of our own, will explain.
  • December 4June Van Klavern, author and a Manchester UMC member, will talk about two books she has written. One is “A Book of Prayers for Parenting”, and  the other a children’s book.
  • January 8 – A Walk Through the Crossroads of MUMC. Dave Gnaegy will talk about the architecture of MUMC and other interesting stories during the same timeframe.
  • February 5 – The Early Response Team (ERT) is a ministry of our church and Karen Yeomans has been on several trips with this group. Hear about what they do when they are called to help those people who have been in the path of a natural disaster.
  • March 5 – Our three pastors have been invited to participate in a game of Bible Jeopardy. Let’s see if we can stump them and also test our own knowledge. We are asking for $10 per person that will be a donation to a charity of their choice. All are welcome to join us.
  • April 2 – Angels and Crosses together. Susan Woodard will continue her discussion on Angels from last year and Linda Schultz will present a selection of several versions of crosses with a brief summary of their origins. The cross has been a symbol of the Christian religion for over 2000 years.
  • May 7 – Spring Luncheon with delicious food catered from a nearby restaurant. To make the day special, Barb Kay will return as Amelia Earhart. She does a wonderful job of portraying women from our past and Amelia is her favorite.
